The choice of paper for paper drums directly determines their load-bearing capacity, sealing performance, corrosion resistance and applicable scenarios. It is necessary to precisely match the type of paper with the characteristics of the items to be loaded, the usage environment and transportation requirements. The core principle followed is "layered paper selection and functional matching". The key points for paper selection in different parts are as follows:
The drum body is the core load-bearing structure of the paper drum. High-strength kraft paper with a coated surface is preferred. This paper is made from sulfate wood pulp and has high longitudinal tear strength and good folding endurance, effectively resisting compression and impact during transportation. The basis weight is usually 120-180 g/㎡. For heavy loads, a multi-layer composite structure can be used to enhance overall rigidity. If used in the food or pharmaceutical industries, food-grade kraft paper should be selected to ensure no fluorescent brighteners or heavy metal residues.
The bottom and lid of the bucket need to balance load-bearing and sealing. Corrugated cardboard or composite card paper are often used. A corrugated or C corrugated cardboard is preferred for its excellent buffering performance, suitable for loading fragile items. Composite card paper is made of multiple layers of pulp and has a smooth surface and high stiffness, suitable for mechanical sealing processes. The recommended basis weight is 250-300g/㎡. If necessary, it can be laminated to enhance water resistance.
The inner liner paper is used to isolate the contents from the bucket body and should be selected based on the characteristics of the loaded items. When loading dry powder or granules, moisture-proof laminated paper should be chosen to prevent the materials from absorbing moisture and clumping. When loading oily or corrosive items, oil-proof paper or aluminum foil composite paper should be used to prevent leakage and corrosion of the bucket body. The basis weight of the inner liner paper is preferably 80-120g/㎡, ensuring toughness while controlling costs.
In addition, for outdoor use, the surface of the paper buckets should be covered with waterproof coating paper. In low-temperature environments, wood pulp paper that is resistant to low temperatures and less prone to cracking should be chosen to ensure the stable use of the paper buckets in different environments.
